What is this? With Dark Knights Metal, there has been one shot tie ins. Each one describing the origin of an evil Bat-Men. So far we have met, Red Death, and Murder Machine. The cyborg and Flash versions.
The Story: Opening on Earth-32. We see a young Bruce Wayne moments after the death of his parents. He talks about how he feels nothing in that moment. Not even fear. Suddenly a green flying ring comes to him and says he's been chosen.
Using the power of the ring, Bruce tracked down the mugger and attempted to kill him. The ring wouldn't let it, but sheer will alone. Bruce managed to do it and killed Joe Chill. Bruce tried to bring his parents back, only to realize they aren't the same. He let them die again.
We see Lantern meet with Gordon about missing cases. A flashback montage is shown of Lantern killing villains. Including pulling Penguin into space and getting hit with asteroid. Gordon confronts him again, and admits he knows he's Bruce Wayne. Lantern killed him without remorse.
Suddenly the entire Lantern Corps. shows up. Bruce pushes the ring past the point of light and into the darkness. He takes down the league. After entering the battery and achieving major power increase. He became Batman the Dawnbreaker. Batman who laughs contacts Dawnbreaker and offers him everything he wants.
On Earth-1 we see Dawnbreaker go to coast city. He attempts to fight Hal Jordan and is on the verge of killing him, when Dr. Fate saved him. Taking Jordan away. Dawnbreaker stayed to torturer the city.
The Review: These issues have been dark, but this is one of the darker ones. Featuring Bruce killing Gordon, Detective Bullock and many others in cold blood. We see what happens if Bruce Wayne got the Ring right after his parents death, when he is full of rage. The art is fantastic. The story is great.
