Opening with the Bat who laughs contacting Mr. Freeze in Arkham Asylum. Much like the Teen Titans tie-ins, we see the Bat give Freeze a special playing card made of the precious metal. We are treated to a beautiful splash page of Nightwing, Robin, Green Arrow, Harley Quinn, and Killer Croc all fighting a frost giant. Killer Croc and Nightwing, launch the monster into rush hour, where it is hit and destroyed by an oncoming train.
It's revealed the wound Nightwing suffered from Deathwing a few issues back, has reappeared. It seems to be getting worse as they draw closer to the center of Champions Mountain. At the center of the snow level, the group encounter a Court of Owls statue. While checking it out Mr. Freeze wielding a giant sword arises with an army of snow monsters. Claiming to be a guardian.
Outside the mountain, we encounter the Teen Titans. Trying to keep mayhem to a minimum. They meet up with the rest of the suicide squad. When out of nowhere they are attacked by an army of the flesh eating Robins that follow The Bat That Laughs. Back to the fight. Nighwing figures out the best way to win is attack the statue. Killer Croc hits it and a door opens up. They all dive inside, narrowing dodging one of freezes attack. They find themselves in the armory, after getting suited up.
There's a massive fight between the army, and the small gang of heroes/villains. In the end Damian lands the winning blow, defeating Mr. Freeze. It cuts to the Bat who laughs, he's talking to a small bat that came to him. We see him open a door, and what appears to be monster versions of the Teen Titans and Suicide Squad, the ones outside of the mountain.
This issue was really emotional. It featured some amazing dialogue between Robin and Nightwing. This was accented perfectly by the inner dialogue Nighwing was having. Even if you're not a Nightwing fan, this is a must buy for the metal event. It gives us fantastic looks at the Bat who laughs and his robins. The chemistry between the Heroes and villains. really makes the book work. I give this an 9/10! Must buy
